Ceramic, stone, and water are paired together in the Basin Series. Each granite stone was hand selected from the Whitewater quarry, between the Transverse and Peninsular Ranges in Southern California.
The unique profile of each stone is a result of water erosion over millions of years. During this process, tiny feldspar and silica particles settle downstream, eventually forming clay deposits.
The deliberate combination of ceramic and stone speak to the cyclical nature of the material — stone to clay / clay to stone — a process carried out by moving water.
